STC Statement on Responsible Data Centers
Springfield Tech Council Statement on Responsible Data Centers
The Springfield Tech Council believes data center growth should be handled thoughtfully, with clear facts and community input. Not all data centers are the same. They range from small server rooms and local colocation providers to massive hyperscale campuses, and each should be judged on its own impact.
Reliable technology infrastructure isn’t just a tech industry issue. Businesses and organizations of every kind across Southwest Missouri, including manufacturers, hospitals, banks, schools, and retailers, depend on it to operate and grow.
We believe data center development should strengthen the regional economy, protect quality of life for residents and workers, deliver benefits that last well beyond construction, and responsibly manage power, water, land use, noise, and environmental impact over the long term.
We support growth that protects residents and keeps Southwest Missouri a place where every business can thrive.
